Envisioning the Future
The Preferences give a horizon, a point of reference to the whole Society of Jesus. They capture our imaginations and awaken our desires.
Fr. General’s direction to revisit our Province Apostolic Plan, of January 2021, came to us as a privileged opportunity for renewal, as we began the Ignatian Year. We felt our hearts burning within us, journeying together with our collaborators, as he opened our eyes ‘to see all things new in Christ’, to envision the road ahead, guided by the Universal Apostolic Preferences.
They are four working fields to which the Society of Jesus will pay special attention and in which it will invest a significant portion of its various resources over the next few years.
SHOWING THE WAY TO GOD
Show the way to God through the Spiritual Exercises and discernment
WALKING WITH THE EXCLUDED
Walk with the poor, the outcasts of the world, those whose dignity has been violated, in a mission of reconciliation and justice
JOURNEYING WITH YOUTH
Accompany young people in the creation of a hope-filled future
CARING FOR OUR COMMON HOME
Collaborate, with Gospel depth, for the protection and renewal of God’s Creation
