We are the Society of Jesus, a Catholic order of priests and brothers, founded half a millennium ago by the soldier-turned-mystic, Ignatius of Loyola. Most people call us “the Jesuits.”  The Society of Jesus was founded by a group of ten men from the University of Paris, under the guidance of St. Ignatius of Loyola. We call ourselves the ‘Companions of Jesus.’
